CeramicSpeed hybrid bearings

Brd. Klee offers the complete range of hybrid bearings from Danish manufacturer CeramicSpeed. CeramicSpeed produces hybrid bearings of the highest quality. Hybrid bearings are bearings with ceramic balls instead of steel balls. This gives a number of advantages, which you can read about below.

Benefits when using ceramic balls

  • Ceramic balls are non-conductive and have an insulating capacity of at least 2.5 kV.
  • Ceramic bearings have 4-8 times longer life cycle than steel bearings and up to 70% lower energy consumption in the bearings.
  • The operating temperature in a ceramic bearing is 14-47 degrees Celsius lower than in standard steel bearings.

Why use hybrid bearings?

Application areas include places with pollution from e.g. water, dust, soil and metal. Likewise, you can advantageously use hybrid bearings where there are many starts/stops or where there is a requirement for rapid acceleration.

In environments with insufficient lubrication, high temperatures, vibrations, problems with bearing flow and other influences, you will find that CeramicSpeed hybrid bearings have a much longer life and thus a better overall economy.

Types of hybrid bearings

CeramicSpeed ball bearings
Ball bearings as you know them, but with CeramicSpeed's ceramic balls, which provide 4-8 times longer life than steel bearings and up to 70% lower energy consumption in the bearings. The operating temperature in a ceramic bearing is 14-47 degrees Celsius lower than in a standard steel bearing. Ceramic Speed ball bearings are available in 4 variants:

CeramicSpeed Insulate
The Insulate series are hybrid deep groove ball bearings for electric motors, generators and other environments where current flow in the bearing must be avoided. The ceramic bearings are non-conductive and have an insulating capacity of at least 15 kV/mm.

Two types:
Insulate bearing with seal type 2RZ (Insulate Sealed)
Insulate open bearings (Insulate Open)

2RZ = Bearing with 2 low friction rubber seals. Corresponds to VV at NSK.

Advantages of Insulate:

  • 4-8 times longer life cycle
  • The operating temperature is 14-47 °C lower than the temperature in steel bearings
  • Up to 70% less energy consumption in the bearing.
  • Higher insulating ability
  • Higher rpm, typically 50% over steel bearings
  • Extremely resistant to contamination in the bearing
  • Can run under low lubrication conditions
  • ROI: Is typically paid when the first ordinary replacement is postponed
  • Operating costs are reduced due to the longer life of the bearings
  • Less downtime due to fewer reapirs and stops ensures you a better competitiveness!

CeramicSpeed Xtreme
Xtreme is a hybrid ball bearing for demanding applications, e.g. in polluting environments where particles penetrate the bearing and affect the bearing's performance. The hardness of the CeramicSpeed balls make them withstand a high degree of contamination, where they will most often crush particles that penetrate the bearing's raceway. The balls are also resistant to water and cleaning, as Silicon Nitride does not rust.

Xtreme is also available for slow moving applications on machines where you need bearings without full rotation. Ideal for processes with many starts/stops and where the longest possible life cycle of the bearings is desired.

Two types:
Xtreme bearings with sealing (Xtreme sealed)
Xtreme open bearings (Xtreme open)

Advantages of using CeramicSpeed Xtreme hybrid bearings:

4-8 times longer service cycle
• Lower energy consumption
• Extremely resistant to contamination
• Lower friction – the coefficient of friction between CeramicSpeed balls and the running track is 75% less
• Reduced wear – fewer tears in the raceways
• Lower operating temperature – 10-20 °C lower than steel bearings
• Higher rpm (open bearings) – typically 50% over steel bearings
• Reduced need for lubrication
• Optimized grease type and quantity for the actual application
• Operating costs are reduced due to the longer life of the bearings
• Less downtime on your manufacturing equipment ensures better competitiveness

CeramicSpeed Corrotec
CeramicSpeed Corrotec is a hybrid ball bearing which is particularly suitable for wet environments, e.g. food processing equipment and transport equipment. It is a bearing type that takes over where bearings in pure stainless materials are not enough. The combination of rust-resistant raceways, ceramic balls, plastic ball holders and the right lubricant provides a completely unique bearing in terms of wear resistance, and thus longevity. Food approved grease is used for Corrotec Bearings.

If the need is other than ball bearings, it is possible to use CorroCoat, which has very good rust protection and friction-reducing properties.

With CeramicSpeed Corrotec you get bearings that are FDA/EC1935 approved for the food industry. The unique thing about the bearings is that both components and lubricant are approved, so they may come into direct contact with food. In addition to being FDA approved, several of the bearing components are also approved according to EC 1935. The components are approved according to FDA 21 CFR (Code of Federal Regulation) -an area of legislation covering medicine and food in the United States. The components also have an EC No. 1935/2004 approval.

The grease is NSF-H1 registered, i.e. approved for food and can be used for both closed bearings and for bearings that are continuously lubricated in production. A specification of the approvals for the CeramicSpeed Corrotec product range can be seen in the CeramicSpeed main catalogue.

Advantages of using CeramicSpeed Corrotec hydrid bearings:

• 4-8 times longer life cycle
• FDA/EC1935 approved bearings for food production
• Bearings without corrosion and with a long life cycle
• Stainless steel bearing that does not tear
• Optimized grease type and quantity for the actual application
• FDA approved grease

• The bearing capacity does not change by changing from stainless to Corrotec bearings
• Reduced load on the raceways due to less inertia from the balls

• Operating costs are reduced due to the longer life of the bearings
• Less downtime on your machinery ensures better competitiveness

CeramicSpeed HighTemp
CeramicSpeed HighTemp ceramic  ball bearings are suitable for furnaces, boilers, hot air systems, etc.

The range consists of bearings with ceramic balls and high-tech components that offer a completely unique HighTemp program up to 260 °C and 350 °C respectively. This is possible, among other things, because the ceramic balls expand 70% less than steel balls.

Advantages of using HighTemp

• 4-8 times longer life cycle
• CeramicSpeed balls have very high stability at high temperatures
• The bearing can be designed with common clearance classes due to great stability
• No micro damage and other damage due to severe cooling
• High resistance to corrosion and pollution
• Can withstand temperatures up to 350 °C
• Operating costs are reduced due to the longer life of the bearings

CeramicSpeed roller bearings
CeramicSpeed coated roller bearings are roller bearings with steel cores in the rollers. The rollers are then coated with a ceramic coating.

CeramicSpeed roller bearings solve problems with bearings that do not run optimally in contaminated environments, such as water, dust, soil, metal, etc. Here CeramicSpeed roller bearings will have a much longer life cycle.

The same applies to environments where the conditions are problematic. It could be many starts/stops, high temperatures or insufficient lubrication.

Ceramic coated roller bearings ensure a better overall economy due to the special properties of the bearings.

Rollers, inner ring and outer ring are coated.

Available as

  • cylindrical roller bearings
  • tapered roller bearings
  • spherical roller bearings
  • thrust roller bearings

CeramicSpeed SLT
CeramicSpeed SLT is a lubricant CeramicSpeed has developed to avoid bearing damage where the bearing is placed under extreme conditions. Developed by CeramicSpeed, SLT is a polymer matrix saturated with lubricating oil. The oil-saturated matrix ensures lubrication of the bearing's contact surfaces, even under very extreme conditions. At the same time the solid lubrication matrix prevents dirt and particles from outside from penetrating the bearing. SLT is food approved and can be combined with most closed bearing types.

CeramicSpeed hybrid flange bearings
CeramicSpeed flange bearings for machine builders in e.g. the food industry. With a smooth and rounded surface, which prevents water and bacteria from entering the device. End caps are bolted on. The units withstand frequent washing. No relubrication of the bearing.
