General info about position indicators

We sell the complete program of rotary controls from Elesa+Ganter.

What is a position indicator?

Position indicators are used to provide in a numerical measurement the position reached in the regulation of different variables such as strokes, flows, capacities or variable speed drivers. Our rotary controls are available with metal or technopolymer case; analogue, digital-analogue, digital or LCD reading.

Where are position indicators used?

They can be used in applications where a precise measurement of position is desired.

Types and materials

Choose between gravity indicators, positive drive indicators, direct drive indicators, handwheels with indicator. Direct drive indicators can be coupled directly to shafts. In the range also mechanical position indicators, electronic position indicators for the adjustment of various machine functions. Magnetic measuring systems for the measurement of linear and angular displacement are also in this group. Special dials for rotary controls can be supplied on request.

Gravity drive indicator

Used when the handwheel spindle is horizontal or max. 60 degree slant. The rotation of the handwheel causes the hands to move while the dial is held in place by the counterweight.

Positive drive indicator

Used on spindles in any position.
The rotation of the handwheel causes the hands to move, but the disc is held still by an armature fixed to the machine.

Mechanical indicator

Direct drives with mechanical position indicators can be mounted on through spindles in any position and provide a direct reading.

Electronic indicator

Indicator with battery can be mounted on continuous spindle in any position and gives reading of the absolute or incremental position.

Elektronic – wireless indicator

Indicator with battery can be mounted on continuous spindle in any position and gives reading of the absolute or incremental position. The indicator is connected to the control unit via radio frequency, which makes a wireless system for fast positioning.

Magnetic indicator

Measuring system connected to a sensor combined with magnetic tape is a complete system for measuring linear and angular displacement.

Elesa-Ganter indicators can be supplied with the following displays

Analog – Read using two rotating hands above a graduated dial.
Digital Analogue – Directly read using a counting mechanism and a rotating pointer above a graduated dial.
Digital – Read directly using a counter.
LCD digital – Read directly using a digital electronic display.
